The purple "exceptional" grade guns can provide the highest possible damage up to Survivor level 11, and then the blue "rare" grade becomes the highest at level 12, when rifles become available and orange "legendary" gun's damage becomes crap. TL DR Power levels 1 to 5 have a great impact on gun damage scaling, then damage drops after that. Orange "Legendary" guns are piss-poor after you hit Survivor level 12, which helps lead me to believe you may actually get stronger orange guns if you manage to find them at lower levels. Purple shotguns do also drop at that point, but not like orange. At the same time the orange shotgun drops to the 1576 minimum damage, the blue jumps up from 2303, to 2448 (with Power level 5). If I'm not mistaken, the blue shotgun also takes on a different range of output at Survivor level 12. However, I can believe it with the way the blue shotgun seems to have a very wide range of possible damage output. They seem to have a way of their own, and I'm still not sure how somebody could've found a ~3000 damage blue shotgun. I would have to get my hands dirty looting police vans to look into that, so maybe another time.Īnd finally, I will address the shotguns. Perhaps lower levels can provide even higher damaging orange guns. If I increase either my Survivor level or Power level from 9 and 4, the damage on the orange guns would reduce. I found that when my Power level was 4, the orange handguns showing up actually had the same max damage I found purple guns to reach. I also noticed some odd behavior with the orange "legendary" gun's damage, and decided to look into Survivor level 9 further. Without searching for a rifle in containers, I am unsure if purple rifles can be found with higher damage than the blue grade that become available at Survivor level 12. The damage on blue did not quite reach what purple handguns and shotguns had reached, but numbers were far enough apart to suggest purple guns from Survivor level 11 or under have the highest possible damage. Exact numbers are randomized to some degree, but the shops are set when you level and consistent. The blue "rare" grade guns take a jump up in damage at Survivor level 12, replacing the previous highest purple grade. Orange actually seem to go straight down to the minimum at that point. Not only do rifles become available, but the purple "exceptional" and orange "legendary" grade weapons all drop in damage. From when guns first start appearing at Survivor level 9, to Survivor level 12, where another sudden change occurs. My findings are based around what appears in the shops, with Power level at 5. Now, I'd like to mention a few other things I've noticed when looking into what's what, at what levels and colors with the different gun's damage. Also, can often cause a person to view higher rarity colors to provide lesser guns. This can lead to quite the surprise when you realize the guns you found earlier in the game were stronger. The most important thing to note is that the damage is largely influenced by your Power level, and seems to suddenly drop off after Power level 5. This allows for a healthy mix of combat options depending on player preference.For those who don't know, the damage of gun weapons has a strange way of scaling as you grow in level. #DYING LIGHT GUN SERIES#Many other notable game series set decades into an apocalypse, such as The Last of Us, still make guns and ammo available despite their expected rarity. However, their near-total absence has largely been seen as a disappointing choice by fans. Given that Dying Light 2 is set over a decade after the fall of civilization, it was to be expected that firearms and ammo would be extremely rare to come across and still just as dangerous to use in most scenarios. Despite their availability and power, guns were not considered practical to use throughout most of the game, mainly due to the loud noise they made which attracted more and more infected to attack players. This is understandable because at a certain level and part of the main story of the first Dying Light, guns and ammo became very easy to come across and were frequently used by players in combat scenarios and boss fights. From a gameplay perspective, it seems Techland removed firearms in order to focus on and emphasize melee combat.
